Alberto da Veiga Guignard (Nova Friburgo, 25 de fevereiro de 1896 — Belo Horizonte, 25 de junho de 1962) foi um famoso pintor brasileiro, sendo conhecido principalmente por retratar paisagens mineiras.

Guignard was born with a full opening of the mouth, nose and palate (cleft lip), causing horror and compassion to their parents. Was still fatherless boy and his mother married again with a German baron ruined, much younger than she, who moved to Germany.

Its formation was rooted in European bases for the eleven lived there for 33 years. He attended the Academies of Fine Arts in Munich, where he studied with Adolf and Herman Groeber Engeler, and Florence.

Back to Brazil in 20 years, became a representative of that name and the following decade, together with Candido Portinari, Ismael Nery and Cicero Dias.

As a young man, he directed a group that participated Iberê Campbell, Vera Mindlin and Alcides Rocha Miranda. At that time (1944), at the invitation of Juscelino Kubitschek, then mayor of Belo Horizonte, installed a course of drawing and painting in the newly created Institute of Fine Arts. From there, fell in love with the city and moved there.

Until his death, Guignard stated numerous times in Brazil. In 1953, he was dedicated to a retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro and in 1992, the Museum Lasar Segall.

The National Museum of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro, under the stewardship of Jean Boghici dealer, a personal friend Guignard, conducted a retrospective, with the air of international megaexposição in April 2000.

It was a complete artist, playing all genres of painting - still lifes, landscapes, portraits to paintings with religious themes and political, and allegorical subjects.

Guignard loved even the mountains of Minas Gerais, its sky and its colors, the stains on the walls and its people. His body rests in the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Ouro Preto, where he lived until 1962.
